I was born and raised in a small village in The Netherlands. Trough out my childhood I traveled with my mother and brothers to India for extended periods of time. Living in, and in between, two worlds was just a given fact. This did not only provide confusion but also lots of inspiration. The two worlds could not be further apart, visually and in almost every other way. But in my experience they were also very close. Or at least they are both close to my heart. And then, more than ten years ago I came to a third country, Canada.

After studying some Fine Arts and finishing a bachelor in Art Education (Utrecht). I realized my other love needed some study too, India! I completed a bachelor and masters in Indology (Leiden) and ever since the music, literature and art of India continued to inspire me. Another source of inspiration is mother nature and all her wonders.

I've always considered myself a painter. But, that was before I got properly introduced to ceramics. Since fall 2015 I have been spending most of my available time in the potters studio. I am so grateful to have this opportunity as a member of the wonderful community of the Waterloo Potters Workshop. Each and every day I am learning and enjoying the many processes and techniques that come with working with clay.

My main focus lately is the connection with (our) nature and cultural expectations. Questions about what is home and how a strange place can become home and how what once was home can become a strange place.
